2010-01-12The 2nd New Year’s Charity Concert
Our company is one of the chief sponsors of the Great New Year’s Pharmacy Concert, which took place on January 9th 2010 in the House of Music and Dance in Zabrze. The event was held together with a fair and pharmaceutical trainings.
The courses were led by Tomasz Wąsik DM, PhD, president of the Virology Unit of Silesian University of Medicine in Katowice. The topic of the lecture was: “Antiviral vaccines – benefits and threats”. Pharmacists could gain 5 hard points.
The evening program was a tribute to Fryderyk Chopin to celebrate his 200th birthday anniversary. The gala was hosted by Bogusław Kaczyński, a great figure of the world of art and music. Money from the tickets went to support the Polish Social Assistance Committee (Polski Komitet Pomocy Społecznej) who was the beneficiary of the event. The audience was led into the world of the opera and operetta by the Symphonic Orchestra, of the Zabrze Philharmonic, conducted by Sławomir Chrzanowski and was accompanied by great singers such as: Krystyna Trybunowska (soprano), Rafał Songan (baritone), Dariusz Stachura (tenor), Tadeusz Szlenkier (tenor), Leszek Świdziński (tenor), and pianist Jerzy Sterczyński. The program included the works of Fryderyk Chopin, Ferenc Lehár, Johann Strauss, Stanisław Moniuszko and Imre Kalman. Then, we heard the legendary “O Sole mio” – E. Di Capua. The artists also performed pieces from well-known operettas and musicals like; “The Gypsy Baron” by J. Strauss and “The Phantom of the Opera” by A.L. Webber. The concert finished with Freddy Mercury’s “We Are the Champions” sang by all the artists together with the audience.

The event was also an opportunity to award distinguished pharmacists. Pharmaceutical Doctor Stanisław Piechula, president of the Silesian Council of the Pharmaceutical Chamber , expressed acknowledgement for our company, presenting our president Aleksander Żurek with a diploma of gratitude for involvement and help in realizing the initiatives of the pharmaceutical environment. |
